Securities and Exchange Commission SEC Young Professionals Programme Nigeria

7 Dec 2010 - Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the main regulator of Nigeria's capital market in Nigeria has announced that it is seeking young, dynamic, talented and experieenced graduates for its Young Professionals Programme. The SEC Young Professional Programme is an attempt by SEC to build up its human capacity with young, qualified and experienced indviduals.

SEC specifically states in the job announcement it desires to "recruit highly qualified, experienced and motivated individuals; who demonstrate a commitment to self development, supported by academic success, professional achievement, potential for leadership into its Young Professionals Programme (YPP)". It is quite clear that through the announcement that SEC desires to bring in new blood into the organization so that it can fulfill its mission of effectively regulating the market in a manner that contributes to national development. As the announcement includes the phrase, "potential for leadership", successful candidates may be the next generation of leaders required to drive change and meet objectives in the regulation of Nigeria's capital market.

A Competitive process

To recruit new young leaders for an organization that plays a key role in the Nigerian economy, it should be expected that the selection and recruitment process will be competitive.

Here are the requirements as stated by the Securities and Exchange Commission SEC Young Professionals Programme YPP Nigeria



Requirements.
*Bachelors' degree (or equivalent) minimum of 2.1., Masters and/ or PhD
*NYSC Discharge Certificate
*Specialisation in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Law, Statistics, IT, or Risk Management
*Possess between zero (0) to five (5) years relevant professional experience, or continued academic study at the doctoral level
*Display interest, commitment and knowledge about the Nigerian and other capital markets
*Be a self starter.

Skills:
*Professional disposition and IT appreciation & application skills
*Problem solving, analytical, and strong reporting skills.
*Detail oriented, excellent team work and interpersonal skills
*Good communication and relationship management skills.

Interested? Being the chief regulator of Nigeria's capital market, SEC is a known and respected name in Nigeria's economy. Though it is a Young Professionals Programme, no age limits are mentioned in the announcement probably because the experience requirement ranges from zero (0) to five (5) years relevant professional experience. The implication is that this is an opportunity both for young fresh graduates and experienced graduates. It appears to be an aspiring leadership opportunity. How much do you know about Nigeria's capital market - history, recent changes, aspirations, etc. Get to know more about SEC, it's mission and vision. beyond meeting the academic and experience requirements future leaders must have knowledge while showing interest, commitment and the desire to contribute to the mission of SEC.
