Publications Officer IDEA Job with African Development Bank AfDB

 

20-02-11 - Publications Officer job and career vacancy has been announced by African Development Bank for the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA),  a forum for policy dialogue on education.

 

   
   

ADEA acts as a catalyst for innovative policies and practices through the exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge. According to the release, "Its overall objective is to contribute to the development of equitable, high-quality education through the concerted efforts of African governments and their partners". 

 

 * Position title: Publications Officer
* Grade: PL-5
* Position N°: NA
* Reference: ADB/ 11/003

Publications Officer Duties and responsibilities

* Implementing ADEA’s publications program, including the publication of documents stemming from ADEA conferences and major activities, particularly Biennales, Triennales and regional conferences. To this end, he/she will:
o Edit documents to be published and follow them through all stages of the publication process, from reception of the manuscript to final printing;
o Develop a quality control policy and procedures for ADEA publications;
o Manage the updating, printing and online posting of the ADEA publications catalogue.
* Producing and printing documentation for statutory meetings and major meetings organized by ADEA.
* Within the framework of ADEA’s development strategy, developing and implementing a dissemination policy that will ensure wide dissemination of ADEA publications.
* Supervising and advising the ADEA working groups as regards the publication and dissemination of their documents and ensuring that the working groups’ publications comply with ADEA standards and editorial policy.

Selection Criteria
Including desirable skills, knowledge and experience

* At least a Master or its equivalent degree in literature, humanities, social sciences, political science, information science, or related fields.
* Excellent writing skills in English and French.
* A minimum of five years experience in publishing.
* Familiarity with development issues.
* Thoroughness and attention to detail in keeping track of the editing and publication process.
* Interest in working in an international environment as part of a team.
* Competence in the use of the Bank’s standard applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
