Welcome to Your e-skills and
Career Forum!
Did you listen to the e-skills and Your Career radio program while it
ran for a
one year on Metro FM? What's your take on e-skills and career development?
As you make efforts to improve yourself in the digital
economy, what are the challenges you face? What works and what matters?
Do websites, web development and hosting mean anything to those
without access to computers? What does Internet presence mean to the person
worrying about school fees and hose rent, still trying to make ends meet?
The paradox is that the environment of Internet, hosting of websites, web design of places
in the virtual world is meant to be a leveler because the Internet disrespects
status quo. However, just like education if access is
limited or it is inaccessible, the web seems like a distant world to the
individuals and small and micro enterprises that should benefit most.
But there is no running away from e-skills, web hosting,
web design and development, electronic business (e-business), electronic
commerce (e-commerce) because computers are here to stay. The web is here to
stay. e-skills are now life skills like reading and writing.
What can be done to widen and deepen penetration of
electronic skills? Do you have creative ideas that can help in bringing
in the excluded rural majority and the poor? And what should be done to
promote and increase availability of ICT professional skills and electronic
business (e-business) skills in society?
Who plays what role? The Internet Service Providers
(ISPs), the government, industry regulators, development agencies,
professional associations, industry groups, student groups, non governmental
associations, the public, etc.
Here's your opportunity to have your say:

Gratitude
From the very first day I stumbled on the website: jidaw.com,
everything that has to do with IT has sort of come alive to me
in a new way. That is why I came all the way from Bayelsa just
to attend your free seminar in April.
Ever since, I have indeed gained tremendously from resources
available in www.jidaw.com, www.careeraware.com and your weekly
radio broadcast on Metro FM every Wednesday.
Your organization is exceptional and keep being exceptional! I
am far better than where I was four months ago, thanks to JIDAW
that has reshaped my thinking and perception on IT skills.
I pray the best for you guys.

You should see the surprise written on
my face when i received your book, what made matters even better
was the fact that you sent it to me as a gift.
When things of this nature happens, one is left with nothing but
a mouth full of gratitude. I am very thankful for this kind
gesture and God richly reward you, your family and business. May
you receive it as He says in Ephesians 3:20.
I've almost read to page 30 already, I must confess i really
enjoy the comprehensive manner in which you made your point on
this subject matter. It's going to be really helpful for my
project work.

Dear Ann Itsemiye,
Thanks for your interesting observation. We appreciate your
thinking and had already considered that challenge. Even in
Lagos, some people may not able to listen to the program due to
the timing.
The website, careeraware.com, was created for this purpose.
careeraware.com will contain all content broadcast on radio as
well as related content and ideas.
The purpose of careeraware.com is to serve as a reference for
the radio broadcast; and most importantly to meet the need of
those unable to listen to the program due to reasons of location
and or time. We value the interest of all individuals interested
in developing their e-skills, irrespective of location. The
careeraware.com website is not limited by location or time.
