Global Competitiveness
e-skills and
Your Career will look at promoting global competitiveness using this
program. What do I mean by global competitiveness? What are those benefits
that e-business and ICT give to you? What are those opportunities for
competing and networking better? What are those technology solutions?
e-skills and Your Career is reaching you on
Metro FM 97.6. Like I said before you don’t have to be an IT professional to
make the required impact in the knowledge society. You simply need the
desire, the knowledge and the thinking. And please this is not a get rich
quick forum. The knowledge society rewards quality effort. Are you a trader?
You could be a student. How can you work, network and compete better? We
talk about the global village.
No class or World
class
What does the global village mean to
you? Let me tell you, it means there is no local class anymore. You are
either world class or no class. You are competing, networking, connecting
and sharing with other people all over the world. So what are those
solutions that you can create and that you can use to meet global standards?
What are the important laws and regulations; what are those policies that
can enhance your e-skills and Your Career? What are those best practices and
how do you improve your performance?
Skills and Career
Needs
What are the skills and career needs
in the public and private sectors, for jobs, job creation, entrepreneurship,
innovative business, etc? In terms of skills e-skills and Your Career will
be looking at user skills, business skills and Technology professional
skills.
User skills have to do with digital
literacy mentioned earlier. E-business skills are very, very important in
the knowledge driven environment today. E-business skills are required for
creating new businesses online and transforming existing traditional
businesses and applications in all sectors (e.g. in education, health,
entertainment, finance, etc). And of course Technology professional skills
are for Telecom engineers, Network administrators, software programmers,
database administrators, Web developers, support professionals and so on.
The Mentality
Furthermore what is the thinking
required to make sense of knowledge economy and to contribute meaningfully
in the knowledge economy. How do we use knowledge to get benefit? One of our
slogans is more knowledge, more power. You need knowledge and you need to
know how to use the knowledge. We are going to explore the mentality
required. We have left the old economy of natural resources, physical assets
and face to face interaction. We are now in the era of knowledge,
technology, empowerment, lifelong learning and constant change.
Bringing down the
barrier of Distance
You can’t afford to become a dinosaur.
Distance is no longer a barrier and now we can do business, interact and
talk to people who are not physically in the same place with us. For example
we run a training school and we conduct training for students who live
outside Nigeria; we have been doing this for several years. The fact is that
these opportunities are there for you in your business or area of interest,
just as they exist for us in IT training. What and where are your interests?
Are you a student, are you in
education, journalism, the social sector, the civil service, the medical
field, finance sector? Where are you? There is no field that is not affected
by IT. There is no field that does not require e-skills – electronic skills.
Don’t be trapped in the past. You don’t have to be a spectator. Get on the
expressway to your amazing future today with e-skills. With e-skills and
Your Career you can fully realize your potentials .
